In celebration of its fourth anniversary, the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) has launched its NMoQ Explorer, developed in collaboration with Microsoft. The NMoQ Explorer is an interactive space dedicated to representing its collections and experiences virtually.
The NMoQ Explorer is a custom-developed solution, designed to mirror the immersive interactive approach of the National Museum of Qatar.
Qatar Museums' star pilot open access and online collections project maps objects to periods to sites, in a novel mapping approach powered by fully scalable knowledge mining tool with Artificial Intelligence (AI). This approach allows for interconnected experience, seamlessly transitioning between space, time and objects, a press statement notes.
Users will soon be able to browse the content in any language through a multilingual chatbot, launching later this year.
By offering online interactive virtual experiences, NMoQ transcends borders between the real and the virtual, opening the museum to diverse audiences, both locally and internationally. Further, it provides a unique educational resource for students of all levels, the statement notes.
Sheikha Amna bint Abdulaziz bin Jassim al-Thani, deputy CEO of Qatar Museums (QM) and director of NMoQ, said: “Our innovative online interactive version of our museum and its artefacts is the first project of its kind in Qatar. We have pushed the boundaries of what technology can do for museums online presence. This co-innovation partnership speaks to QM’s commitment to interdisciplinary and community integration and engagement. The goal is to accelerate our vision of being an emitting museum, sharing with our audiences a new platform for engagement and learning.”
