The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) under the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) continues its Ramadan programmes while hosting mass Iftars and hosting various activities . According to an official Awqaf statement, around 20,000 persons including 300 Muslim reverts benefit from these programmes at various sites. The statement said that the Islamic Culture wing at the centre is organising preaching initiatives at Iftar programmes while covering various communities. The programmes have question answer sessions in addition to various competitions.
Fanar has also released videos as part of its ‘With God Almighty’ programme which was prepared by the Islamic Culture wing. The videos are available in nine languages while the episodes include descriptions and explanations of the names of God in English, Urdu, Malayalam, Bengali, Amharic, Oromo, Filipino and Malay. The statement noted that the videos are viewed by hundreds daily.
The women's section at the centre also organised an Iftar for reverts and it was attended by 172 reverts from several nationalities. Nine female preachers attended the programmes while giving lectures on the value of Ramadan and answered the questions.
The women's section also organised various Ramadan lectures for Muslim communities in Tamil, Malay and Sinhala languages. The lectures were attended by women from Tamil, Malayalam and Sinhala speaking women.
Also, 10 women from the US, visited the Grand Mosque as part of Awqaf’s programmes to introduce Qatar and Islamic culture.
