Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) participated in the meeting of the Arab Associations for Breast Cancer Control, organised by El Amel Association, The Pierre and Marie Curie Centre in co-operation with the Algerian Ministry of Health recently in Algeria to prepare a proposal to establish an Arab Union for breast cancer control under the umbrella of Arab League.
The meeting discussed the importance of establishing an Arab Union for breast cancer control, its mechanism of action, and objectives with the participation of several Arab countries namely, Qatar, Algeria, Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Libya, Sudan, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq,
QCS chairman Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Jabor al-Thani praised the idea of an Arab Union for breast cancer control under the umbrella of the Arab League as it will significantly impact fighting breast cancer in the region, as breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among women.
