Russian President Vladimir Putin said Sunday that Russia and China were not creating a military alliance.
In response to statements that Moscow and Beijing are creating a military alliance, Putin said that Russia has transparent cooperation with China related to the military-technical interaction.
The Russian President said that the Western powers are trying to form more global alliances, accusing the US and Nato of starting to form a new axis similar to the alliance of Germany, Italy and Japan during World War II.
Chinese President Xi Jinping recently paid a three-day official visit to Russia, his first overseas visit since his re-election for a third term.
During the visit, a joint statement was signed on a plan to develop the pivotal areas of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation until 2030.
