Nineteen neighbourhood parks will be opened by the end of this year, according to Sara Kafood, deputy chairperson of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar.
She told local Arabic daily Arrayah that work is also under way to develop eight public beaches in the country in co-operation with the Ministry of Municipality.
The development works include providing more umbrellas, corridors and passageways alongside beaches, in addition to solar-powered LED lighting systems and playgrounds and kids’ play areas.
Further, basic services and retail kiosks would be available at some beaches.
Kafood said that the development and beautification of public areas and roads will continue as usual with the aim of improving the quality of life for residents.
Further, she said there are a good number of new works of art that will be installed at various sites this year, which have been designed by both local and foreign artists.
