College of Engineering, Trivandrum Alumni Association, Qatar Chapter (Cetaaq), recently had its AGM and celebrated 24th year of its inception, at an event titled Tanza Nite.
General secretary Faris Ibrahim presented a brief on the activities of the management committee (MC) and treasurer Mohamed Mahroof submitted the financial report for the period, 2021-23. As part of the AGM proceedings, the incumbent MC under Thomas K G stepped down and a new MC led by Sajil Abdul Salam was presented. Prizes for the winners of the sports competitions conducted during the past two years were handed over during the function.
In the public function which followed, Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) chairman and chief guest J K Menon and president and guest of honour Jaffer Us Sadik spoke. A keynote address on ‘Engineering for a Better and Sustainable World’ was delivered by Dr Tony Thomas, chief digital and information officer, Signify (previously Philips Lighting).
IBPC vice presidents Abdul Sathar and Hisham Abdul Raheem also graced the occasion. Mementos for children who excelled academically in Class X and XII during the past two years were presented by the invited guests. The cultural event featured a welcome dance jointly by dancers from Cetaaq and Abhinaya School of Performing Arts, as well as a dance performance by Cetaaq kids and a music show by Funkaar Beats.
