Mina District at the Old Doha Port will host some 20 activities during the holy month of Ramadan, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reports.
The events will be held with the participation of more than 80 local commercial entities and some well-known brands in the region.
Mina District and the Old Doha Port have emerged as a new tourist destination, providing various shopping and eating options, breathtaking views of the Arabian Gulf, and hosting cruise ships from around the world. The port is expected to receive more than 15,000 foreign tourists on six cruise ships during Ramadan, the QNA report says.
The district has been adorned with a distinctive Ramadan and the activities on offer will appeal to different age groups. The initiative marks an effort to revive popular customs and traditions through a variety of events and activities.
One of the attractions is Souq el Mina, which will host several programmes and sell a variety of products. The souq includes outlets of international brands.
Also, Mina District provides an opportunity to practise marine activities in the evening before Iftar by providing kayaks, paddle boards and marine bikes on rent. Other marine sports can be practised at the Box Park, also located on the Old Doha Port premises until Iftar.
Meanwhile, traditional dhows provide unique services, including Iftar and Suhoor meals, providing an exceptional experience for visitors.
The port will witness the firing of the cannon to announce the Iftar time, every day during Ramadan, opposite the Box Park. The cannon firing is one of the most prominent and popular aspects of the holy month.
The port also provides owners of yachts and marine vehicles moored outside its premises with an opportunity to access the port by providing a temporary mooring service so that they can enjoy the Ramadan events and experience the facilities and commercial units there.
