The College of Health Sciences (CHS) at Qatar University held its annual celebration of the achievements at the academic, research, professional and community service levels.
The ceremony was held in the presence of members of the Office of the Vice President for Health and Medical Sciences and CHS dean Dr Hanan Abdul Rahim, in addition to college professors and students, and representatives of a number of health care and academic institutions in Qatar and advisory committees.
During the ceremony, approximately 213 laboratory and clinical training supervisors were honoured in the majors offered by the college, namely Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Human Nutrition, and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences.
Dr Rahim lauded the efforts of the clinical supervisors in training and preparing the college students during their field practice period at Hamad Medical Corporation, Sidra, Ministry of Public Health, Primary Healthcare Corporation, Aspetar, Qatar Foundation and Qatar Diabetes Association.
The white coat ceremony for the departments was also held for 116 female students, by the oath’s performance of the ethical guidelines of the relevant academic accreditation bodies for the majors of the CHS. In addition, 16 female graduates who passed the accreditation test and obtained the Board of Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology were honoured.
Dr Asma al-Thani, Vice President for Health and Medical Sciences, praised the efforts of the faculty members of the college including academics, technicians and administrators who worked to achieve the achievements of the CHS through active research efforts and high-quality programmes that will continue to innovate according to the needs of the country.
