The ministries of education and higher education, and sports and youth have launched an initiative to enhance and co-ordinate efforts in order to achieve national development goals, in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030, in the presence of HE the Minister of Sports and Youth Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali, and HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, and a number of senior officials from both sides.
The co-operation initiative is aimed at exchanging experiences, best practices and optimal use of capabilities, to develop the capabilities of students, teachers, employees, parents and society, in all fields, in addition to discovering talents, exploding creative energies, investing leisure time, and enhancing skills. The initiative also encourages physical sports among students and youth, builds and enhances their self-confidence and helps them achieve all their potential, attracts and nurtures people with specific talents, raises the cultural level of young people, consolidates their national identity, in addition to increasing community participation in sports, achieving sports excellence, and promoting benefit from sports.
HE the minister of education said that the initiative reflects the level of co-operation between the two ministries to benefit from one another and exchange expertise.
She added that the initiative is concerned with improving the students' skills and encourage creativity and innovation. The initiative included several areas, including organising summer activities between youth centers and schools, in a way that contributes to serving youth and students during the summer holidays, expanding the activities and programmes of the Qatar Science Club in coordination with schools, and organizing periodic competitions between schools.
The areas of co-operation also included establishing traditions related to the celebration of the National Sports Day by organising sporting events and competitions, and organising introductory and educational visits for students to World Cup facilities to learn about the sustainable legacy, and to provide volunteer opportunities for school students in the events, programs and tournaments organised by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and to facilitate schools benefit from self-defence trainers affiliated with the ministry by organising weekly classes for students in schools in this regard.
In a related context, HE al-Ali, and HE al-Nuaimi, toured the 15th Schools Robotics Championship, which is organised by the Qatar Scientific Club in co-operation with the Ministry of Education, with the wide participation of students from 160 public and private schools, in Lusail Hall, where the two ministers were briefed on the students creativity, and followed aspects of their competitions.
