The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has announced its nationwide programmes and events for the holy month of Ramadan.
HE the Director General of the General Directorate of Endowments Sheikh Dr Khalid bin Mohamed bin Ghanim al-Thani said in a press conference that the multiple and varied Ramadan activities build bridges of communication with partners in society, under the slogan 'endowment is societal partnership'.
The activities are divided into community partnerships, six of which will be announced during the holy month, with Qatar Diabetes Association, Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, Comprehensive Empowerment School, Qatar Autism Society, and HMC Heart Hospital and A Flower Each Spring Programme, he said.
Among the events will be Ramadan Iftar tables and educational activities and Qur'an competitions.
There will also be two qualitative initiatives — the 'endowment scouts', which will be the largest database of endowments, and the announcement of university scholarships in co-operation with the Education Above All Foundation, Sheikh Dr Khalid said.
Assistant Undersecretary for Da'wah and Mosques Affairs Mohamed Hamad al-Kuwari said that the department prepared a group of distinguished Qatari reciters to participate in Taraweeh and Qiyaam (Ramadan-associated night prayers).
The Director of the Zakat Affairs Department, Saad Omran al-Kuwari, said that the Zakat Fund would receive requests and interview cases in the morning and evening, whether virtually or in-person at the Zakat Fund building.
The Director of the Department of Religious Call and Guidance, Mal Allah Abdulrahman al-Jaber, said that the department will organise 950 field Ramadan activities including lessons in mosques, seminars and competitions for children and adults, field visits to patients in hospitals, an intellectual programme in addition to 'Our Religion' TV show in co-operation with Qatar Television.
The Director of the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre, Dr Saleh Ali al-Akhan, said that the centre will present a number of Ramadan programmes and events that aim to highlight the holy month from the perspective of Qatari traditions.
The Head of the Islamic Research Department, Mishary al-Namlan, said that the department will organise a seminar on a range of different intellectual and social issues. The seminar will bring together a group of specialised academics and intellectuals who will present research papers on the topic of the seminar and provide effective solutions and forward-looking studies.
