Al Wakra Municipality's Health Control Section acted upon a complaint of rotten rice being stored at a foodstuff store, and carried out an inspection campaign. Accordingly, 1,050kg of expired rice and lentils were found there and a violation report was issued based on Law No. 8 of 1990 on the Regulation of Human Food Control. The seized items were also destroyed in co-operation with the General Cleanliness Department. Meanwhile, the meat health unit at the section had earlier carried out an awareness and inspection campaign targeting vehicles that transport meat to shops and the slaughterhouse. This was done to ensure that the mechanisms comply with the requirements for the safe transportation of meat.
