International Women’s Day was celebrated at MES Indian School. A special assembly in the Girls’ Section saw students speak about the importance of the day, the multifarious roles that women assume in the modern world and the need to educate them for the prosperity of the society. Later in the day a special function was held in the conference hall. Principal, Dr Hameeda Kadar spoke about the significance of women in society and the tenacity they should develop to face common issues. The principal along with other officials cut the cakes prepared by the Department of Home Science in honour of the day. This was followed by a cultural activity which included singing by teachers. Atheen Bahanan and Sumitha Nassar Abdul Venda, staff secretaries of the Boys’ and Girls’ Sections, respectively, co-ordinated the event.
