A powerful earthquake measuring 7.1 magnitude on the Richter scale struck the Kermadec Islands region in New Zealand on Thursday.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake was estimated at a depth of 10 km.
A tsunami warning was issued after the quake, the US Tsunami Warning System said.
No causalities or material damage have been reported.
The Kermadec Islands are subjected to strong earthquakes frequently, the most recent of which was an earthquake of a 6.9 magnitude on March 4.
