The Ministry of Commerce and Industry ((MoCI) announced an initiative to double the share of rice, sugar, oil, and evaporated milk for citizens benefiting from food supplies for one time, coinciding with the approaching holy month of Ramadan. In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said that the double share for every ration card would be implemented on Wednesday, March 31, 2023, affirming that subsidized food and fodder supplies are the right of the citizen and it is not permissible to assign it to others, whatever the reasons. The ration card and its password must also be kept in a safe place and not to allow others to possess or use it so as not to be subject to legal accountability.
This initiative comes within the MoCI initiatives during the blessed month of Ramadan 1444 AH, and in line with its keenness to support the citizens during this holy month, as spending on food commodities increases during this month and occupies the largest proportion of total expenditures.
