The Arab Union for Tourist Media has acknowledged the excellence of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with the award for the best tourism sports festival held on an Arab soil in 2022.
This came during the Union’s announcement of the names of winners of the Tourism Media Awards for 2023, on Wednesday in Berlin, on the sidelines of ITB Berlin, which was held in Germany from March 7-9 with exhibitors from more than 150 countries.
The Jordan Pavilion hosted the ceremony, where Jordanian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram al-Qaisi announced the names of the winners at the presence of officials of the World Tourism Organisation, the Arab Union for Tourist Media, and a number of tourism officials from Arab countries.
The Arab Tourism Media Awards are the highest Arab awards honouring governmental, private figures and institutions in the sectors of tourism promotion, hotels and tourist destinations in the Arab region, in addition to honouring the media supporting Arab tourism plans.
Honours included the Man of the Arab Heritage Award 2023, Arab Heritage Personality Award 2023, the Best City Award for Sustainable Tourism, and the Best Arab Event Award for Sustainable Tourism for the Climate Change Conference (COP 27), awards for the best chief executive of an Arab tourism authority, the best personality in the Arab tourism bodies, the best Arab hotel management, the best Arab tourist destination for 2023, the best Arab tourism festival, the best travel and tourism agency that supports Arab tourism, the best application for travel and flight reservations, and the best hotel suitable for the Arab family.
The winners of the tourism media awards were announced, in addition to awards to influencers on social media.
Arab Union for Tourist Media chairman Dr Sultan al-Yahyai said in a statement that the winners are personalities and institutions that have outstanding and distinguished efforts in the tourism industry from various Arab countries.
