Qatar participated in the 67th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW67), which this year focuses on innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age, to enhance work and bridge gaps in this field.
Qatar’s delegation to the session was headed by HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad, via video conference.
The minister affirmed that Qatar is committed to increasing investment and advancing all efforts to promote digitisation and education, as they are the main determinants of the humanity’s path towards overcoming various challenges, foremost of which is the empowerment of women and girls.
HE al-Misnad referred to Qatar’s experience, which focused on developing a knowledge-based economy and providing a digital infrastructure from which women in the country benefited tangibly and significantly.
The minister indicated that Qatar did not only invest generously in the field of knowledge-based economy and infrastructure development, but also spent heavily on education, which was clearly reflected on women, pointing out that in 2021, women’s leadership in Qatar reached about 57%, higher than the world average.
She expressed great optimism about the successes of Qatari women, expecting these percentages to continue rising thanks to the resources and supportive policies given to women and their deep involvement in university education in various sciences and fields of knowledge, as well as the representation that women enjoy in many areas of diplomatic, security, legal and pioneering work.
HE al-Misnad said that a knowledge-based economy, which links digitisation and education, is the ideal solution for women as it provides them with all modern means to work, earn, contribute to the national domestic product, and enjoy a decent and comfortable life. – QNA
