Second Division side Al Shahania stunned Al Wakrah 3-1 on penalties in the last 16 to enter the quarter-finals of the Amir Cup on Wednesday. The teams were locked at 1-1 after the end of regulation time at the Hamad Bin Khalifa Stadium. Twenty-year-old goalkeeper Bautista Burke turned out to be the hero for Shahania as he saved penalties off Wakrah captain Mohamed Benyettou and Gelson Dala. In the quarters, Shahania will face Al Arabi, who eased past Al Shamal 3-0 in yesterday’s other last 16 match. For Arabi, Omar al-Somah scored a brace in the 85th and 90+1 minutes after Aron Gunnarsson had given them the lead in the first half. PICTURE: Noushad Thekkayil
