Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has announced the launch of its Ramadan Campaign 1444 AH, under the theme 'Humanity First: Give to Charity'.
The drive involves diverse Ramadan-specific and year-round development projects for the benefit of 720,000 people in Qatar and 18 other countries.
At a press conference yesterday, Secretary-General Ali bin Hassan al-Hamadi, stated that humanity is one of the fundamental principles underlying QRCS’s work and it comes above everything else.
"The ultimate goal of any charitable, humanitarian, or voluntary act is to serve those in need, just because they are humans, regardless of language, gender, race, faith, or any other considerations. There is no doubt that humanitarianism brings people together and builds peace and co-existence. It motivates us to help others for nothing in return.
“In many affected countries, millions suffer the scourge of displacement, and they are desperate for food, shelter, and treatment. As the impact of the Syria-Turkiye earthquake persists, the affected people remain stuck in a crisis. It is a long way for them to restore their normal lives”.
Youssef Mohamed al-Awadi, director of resource mobilisation department at QRCS, stated: “We are set to commence Ramadan, development, and relief projects in response to recent disasters, such as the Syria-Turkiye earthquake, insufficient food and medical supplies at refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan, and lack of food and water in some parts of Sudan and Somalia.
"With benevolent donors, we will be able to build shelters for the homeless, dig water wells, fund income-generating projects for poor families, provide food parcels, and support the production of bread, treat patients, pay for the debts of those deeply indebted, and sponsor vulnerable families”.
Donors can support this campaign via QRCS website (www.qrcs.org.qa), mobile application, donor service (call 66666364), home donation collection (call 33998898), SMS (send “1” to 92552 to secure Iftar meals for one family throughout the holy month of Ramadan), bank transfers (QIB, QIIB, and QNB), and QRCS donation agents at malls and shopping centres.
Al-Awadi thanked the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities (RACA) for helping to facilitate the campaign, by licensing the projects and methods of donation.
