An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale struck the Nicobar Islands, southeastern India.
A statement issued by National Center for Seismology (NCS) today reported that the earthquake occurred 270 km from the Campbell Bay area at a depth of 10 km.
There have been no reports of causalities or material damage.
On December 5, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck the Bay of Bengal at a depth of 10 kilometres.
