The training course for teaching sign language (level two) began, today, at the Officers Club of the General Directorate of Civil Defense, which is organised by the Office of People with Special Needs Affairs in the Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Interior, with the aim of qualifying a number of the Ministry's military and civilian employees working in service and field jobs on sign language skills, to enhance communication mechanisms with people with special needs and meet their needs.
Lieutenant Colonel Nasser Abdullah, the technical office officer at the Human Resources Department and in charge of the Office of People with Special Needs, explained that the course comes as a continuation of the implementation of the annual plan of the Office, and to achieve the strategic goal of the Ministry of Interior represented in developing the skills and capabilities of the personnel, and strengthening partnership with society and institutions concerned with people with special needs.
He confirmed that the session will be attended by 22 participants from the Ministry's employees who have successfully passed the first level, while next week a number of female employees of the Ministry will participate, in order to qualify the participants to deal with people with hearing disabilities, and to acquire new skills that contribute to strengthening the mechanisms of communication, with the aim of integrating the people with special needs into society and creating a kind of positive communication with them inside and outside the ministry.
