Qatar Charity (QC), through its global “Rofaqa” initiative for the care of orphans and underprivileged children, seeks to sponsor the largest possible number of orphans still on waiting lists, hoping to bring the number of the sponsored to 200,000 before the month of Ramadan.
This is to promote social solidarity and serve humanity with the support from benefactors in Qatar.
The QC, through this initiative, is keen to provide comprehensive care to sponsored persons, who now number more than 194,000, by providing various services and implementing projects to meet their needs and provide social protection.
Rofaqa general supervisor Yousef al-Khulaifi said that the initiative has been achieving success and contributed to realising the aspirations and dreams of many children.
He added that the initiative was the reason behind the success stories of many sponsored orphans, who have achieved outstanding academic and career performance.
Al-Khulaifi urged the benefactors to continue to supporting the Rofaqa initiative, as there are more than 17,700 social cases eligible for sponsorship.
He noted that the cases have been studied and are now on waiting list to be sponsored.
The official noted successive disasters and crises globally, including the recent Turkiye-Syria earthquake, lead to an increase in the number of those in need of sponsorship.
He stated that the sponsorship process can easily be carried out through the Rofaqa website (www.rofaqa.com), or through the Qatar Charity app in less than a minute.
In addition to orphans and poor families, students, people with disability, and teachers can also be sponsored under the Rofaqa initiative.
The QC, as part of this initiative, designs and implements qualitative projects for the sponsored, like model cities and qualitative centres that includes schools, health units, apartments, student housing, playgrounds, and water facilities.
By the end of 2022, some 303 qualitative and service centres were built for orphans, children, and their families.
The Rofaqa initiative also pays attention to programmes, projects, and activities implemented for orphans and the sponsored.
It also attaches significant attention to the social care, healthcare, psychological support and social housing projects.
Nearly 13,250 people benefited from these projects during 2022.
