A group of teachers from DPS Modern Indian School attended a special panel discussion on 'The International Year of Millets' 2023 hosted by the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) Qatar recently at the Indian Cultural Centre. The programme commenced with a video clip of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s talk on the importance of millets. Guest speaker Ghanim al-Sulaiti, a dynamic entrepreneur and co-founder of Evergreen Organics, gave a description of his lifestyle and inspired people to adopt healthy plant-based foods. The three panellists briefed the participants about the nutritional and health benefits of millets, the suitability of its cultivation under adverse and changing climatic conditions and sustainable and innovative market opportunities to benefit farmers and consumers globally. The participants were advised to work together in an efficient, effective and coherent manner to ensure that the 'International Year of Millets' is successful with fruitful actions and impactful outcomes.
