Education Above All Foundation has announced the staging of the Goals for Good (Goals4Good) tournament, for boys and girls school students, on March 10.
The tournament aims to spread awareness of the importance of education in poor communities, and to establish the principle of participation among school students in Qatar, in addition to raising donations to support the selected foundation's projects aimed at helping the most vulnerable and marginalised children in the world.
Director of Private Sector Partnerships at Education Above All Foundation Parintaj Sulaiman said that more than a thousand students from 36 schools have signed up, pointing that a school can participate with more than one team according to the various age groups in the tournament. She added that the football competition is divided into three age groups (10-12, 13-15 and 16-18 years) for both boys and girls, in addition to matches for students with different disabilities.
She noted that more than 300 male and female students have signed up for the painting competition, pointing that it is composed of specialists from Qatar National Museum and Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar.
The tournament is sponsored by four official sponsors; Qatar Airways, Carrefour Qatar, Shell-Qatar and Marriott Worldwide Business Councils Qatar, Parintaj Sulaiman said.
Director of Digital Finance and Partnerships at the Education Above All Foundation Musaab Karwat said the tournament is targeted for children to support their peers in the least developed countries, and pointed out that the Foundation plays an active role in more than 60 countries in various regions of the world.
