HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), confirmed that the “I Want Qatar Grand Paddle Championship” continues its success as one of the most important international padel competitions.
Sheikh Joaan said in his speech to the tournament yesterday: “The competitions currently being held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with the participation of a group of game stars and top ranked players in the world, are an indication of the great and continuous support provided by the State of Qatar to padel, just like any other increasingly popular sports.
Sheikh Joaan added: “On this occasion, we renew our thanks and gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Amir of the country, for the unlimited interest and support for Qatari sports, which had a great and direct impact on Qatar’s winning of hosting many major world events and championships annually in various games”.
Sheikh Joaan indicated that the organisation of the “Qatar Grand Paddle Championship” comes in line with the vision of the Qatar Olympic Committee “to be a pioneering nation that brings the world together through sustainable sports development” in addition to the great popularity of the padel sports that has become popular in Qatar in recent years, whether at the local or international level.
The President of QOC renewed the committee’s commitment to provide full support to the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation.
In order to organise the tournament at the highest level within the framework of the attention given by the committee to all sports events held in Qatar, and to provide the necessary capabilities to show it in a way that reflects Qatar’s leading position in the world in terms of organising major sporting events.
At the end of his speech, Sheikh Joaan expressed his wishes to the participants and the guests of the tournament for a pleasant stay in Doha, the capital of world sports, and for all success.
