With the participation of 32 countries, including Qatar, the 27th Muscat International Book Fair continues its activities, which began on February 22 and will come to an end on March 4.
Represented by the Ministry of Culture and a number of Qatari publishing houses, the State of Qatar is taking part in the Muscat Fair. The Ministry's participation is within its keenness on attending international book fairs as an opportunity to present Qatari intellectual production to a wide audience of readers, and introduce the continuous development of the publishing industry in the State of Qatar, in addition to enhancing cooperation and exchanging experiences with those in the field of culture and the publishing industry.
Regarding the Qatari participation in the expo, CEO of Rosa Publishing House Dr. Aisha Jassim Al Kuwari told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that this was their fifth participation in the 27th Muscat International Book Fair, and that this year's participation is with 220 titles, including the house's new releases.
She affirmed the house's keenness to be present in the exhibition due to its cultural importance and being an opportunity to introduce the Qatari cultural production in all Gulf, Arab and international markets, noting the importance of attending one of the most important Gulf and Arab exhibitions to highlight the role of Qatari publishing houses.
In another statement to QNA, Executive Director of the Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) Bachar Chebaro said that the HBKU Press showcases many publications as it participates with more than 500 titles, including academic, lifestyle, health, award-winning fiction books, children's and youth books, works of a group of Qatari and Arab authors, and translations of international best-selling authors.
He added that the HBKU Press is keen to continue supporting Qatari and Arab talents, pays more attention and appreciation to Arab literature and narration, and is interested in being present in book fairs around the world, and it is proud of its active presence at the regional level.
He explained that the HBKU Press is constantly seeking to update its collection of publications offered to the public in different languages, including books on psychology and others on success stories, in addition to many classic literary works.
