Various municipalities across the country have marked Qatar Environment Day (QED), observed Sunday.
Doha Municipality organised an educational and awareness workshop for students of Umm Zubaidah Secondary School for Girls, and trained them on the basic skills of agriculture and farming, in addition to raising their awareness on Law no 18 for 2007 on Public Hygiene, and the need to reduce pollution through recycling and reducing waste.
Al Shamal Municipality's Services Affairs marked the occasion in the presence of director Hamad Juma al-Mannai, and a heads of sections and directors of departments.
They took part in a campaign to clean Al Shamal Beach with the participation of Al Shamal Primary School pupils.
A lecture on the importance of maintaining the environment was also organised.
Al Sheehaniya Municipality carried out an awareness initiative on food health and safety targeting all the school students.
Al Daayan Municipality organised a tree-planting event for students at Aminah Mahmoud Al Jaidah School, and Tariq Bin Zeyad School, in addition to planting a number of trees at Simaisma Beach.
