Officials of Qatar Chamber and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting in Doha Sunday to discuss investment opportunities between them.
Qatar Chamber first vice-chairman Mohamed bin Towar al-Kuwari met with Laziz Kudratov, the First Deputy Minister of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, at the chamber’s Doha headquarters.
Both officials discussed means to enhance trade exchange and bolster economic co-operation between both countries, the investment climate, the opportunities available on both sides, and ways of strengthening partnerships between Qatari businessmen and their counterparts from Uzbekistan.
Al-Kuwari said Qatari businessmen are eager to learn about investment opportunities available in Uzbekistan in light of Qatar’s economic diversification policy and its objective to expand investments in countries in Africa and Asia.
He said Uzbekistan is “a distinguished destination” for investors and rife with investment opportunities in various sectors, such as mining, real estate development, and services. Al-Kuwari stressed the importance of incentives and legislation that protect foreign investments.
Al-Kuwari underscored the Qatar Chamber’s willingness to boost co-operation and partnerships between companies in Qatar and Uzbekistan, and to forge economic and commercial alliances.
Kudratov said his visit aims to review ways to expand co-operation and partnership between both countries. He called on Qatari investors to visit Uzbekistan and explore the available investment opportunities in sectors like lime mining, infrastructure, agriculture, oil and gas, and renewable energy, among others.
He also proposed the possibility to holding a business forum between businessmen from both countries in Uzbekistan to review vistas of co-operation, as well as the establishment of a joint business council.
