The General Authority of Customs (GAC) has played a vital role at the 19th Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE 2023). All the necessary customs services were provided to the participating traders and exhibitors to guarantee a smooth and speedy entry of goods to the exhibition according to the approved customs procedures in the country.
Ahmed Yousef al-Khanji, director of the Air Cargo and Private Airports Customs Department and head of the DJWE 2023 team, said that the GAC formed a specialised team to ease procedures of entry for the exhibits through a temporary entry clearance system, under which the due customs duty will be suspended until the pieces exit the country and reported again.
For the sold pieces, customs will be collected by the end of the exhibition, and would be deducted from the daily sales based on the original bills or the day after the sale process.
The official also said that the GAC has maintained co-ordination with the Qatar General Authority for Standardisation and Metrology to ensure the authenticity of the exhibits and gold purity, and ensure no counterfeited pieces get in.
