Galfar Al Misnad Engineering & Contracting organised a football tournament for its blue-collar employees at the Cambridge Girls' School, Al Hilal campus, on the occasion of Qatar National Sport Day.
The event saw 11 teams from different camps showcase their sportsmanship. Every team consisted of seven players and the duration of each game was 20 minutes.
The tournament was witnessed by the senior management team along with a large number of company employees to support and cheer up their teams.
The final was held between City Blaster and Gorkhali GF. The two teams were tied 2-2 at the end of regulation time, with City Blaster going on to win 4-3 in the penalty shootout.
Executive director Satish G Pillai handed over the trophy, medal and cash prize to the winners, while Navaneetha Shetty handed over the trophy, medal and cash prize to the runner-up along with Arumugam, project manager.
"We are happy to see employees' sportsman spirits and enthusiasm, and this makes us organise more such initiatives in the future” said Aparna P Krishna, deputy manager - human resource.
“We believe in our employees' potential and these events bring out the skills of our workforce, and we are really proud of it,” said Pillai, while addressing the players after the prize distribution.
