Several tennis stars have visited ExxonMobil Qatar’s stand located in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2023 Public Village. Andrey Rublev and Roberto Bautista Agut were among the first players to visit the stand, with more expected to drop by to meet fans and sign autographs throughout the tournament.
Nikoloz Basilashvili and Felix Auger Aliassime tried out the full-size racing simulator available to all visitors and competed against one another to make the fastest lap time.
“It’s incredible to see visitors of all ages when they meet tennis players at our stand – they’re just thrilled and the players also have a great time as well chatting to them and signing tennis balls,” said Saleh al-Mana, Vice-President and Director of Government and Public Affairs for ExxonMobil Qatar.
“Tennis stars inspire and influence people all over the world to be passionate about sports, work hard, and dream big, especially young people. We know how important it is for players to connect with their fans, and we’re very pleased to provide the space for them to do so,” he added.
As title sponsor of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open, the company has given its employees the opportunity to take part in the coin toss before matches. The coin toss is a traditional method to determine which player must serve first and which side they want to serve from, and is an unforgettable experience to take part in.
Also during the tournament, ExxonMobil Qatar and Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) organise kids clinics for children from the ExxonMobil Qatar community to help grow youth tennis, and build the foundations for an active life among youth.
Jiri Lehecka led this year’s kids clinic. He worked with the children on their technique, balance, agility and co-ordination, answered their questions, and signed tennis balls or them. The session was a truly enjoyable experience for the young players who appreciated the opportunity of meeting a top tennis player.
“Qatar ExxonMobil Open has always believed in catching them young, and at the core of our tournament are programmes specially designed for the young players, of which the Kids Clinic is an integral part. This year, we’ve lined up a set of activities specially curated for the kids to learn more about our sport from some of the best trainers and coaches around, and the kids are in for a very good time. I have no doubt that they will find it interesting and exciting,” said Tariq Zainal, Secretary-General of Qatar Tennis Federation.
ExxonMobil has long been a supporter of sporting activities in Qatar and invests in sports to help transform lives and create opportunities for positive change in the local community, particularly among young people. Its partnerships with local organisations like Qatar Tennis Federation promote a healthy and skilled workforce in Qatar for strong, sustainable and balanced growth.
