The 9th Disaster Management Camp (DMC-9), organised by Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) under the patronage of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) continued for the second day Wednesday.
The Purple Team was assigned to practice emergency shelter. A theoretical lecture was delivered by QRCS trainers Wassim Lazkani and Yusra Yahya, followed by practical training, to install makeshift shelter tents using the tool kit. The training concluded with the team members divided into working groups, to plan shelter camps based on certain scenarios/criteria.
DMC-9 was visited by many guests including Hamad Ali al-Marri, director of Land Transport Licensing Department and representative of the Ministry of Transportation in the Civil Defence Council; Hassane M’bareck Boubacar, Niger's ambassador; Sahanine Mahamadou, Niger Presidency special advisor in charge of NGOs; Cherine Pollini, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Mission in Qatar; Yara Khaweja, humanitarian affairs adviser at ICRC Mission in Qatar; Maya Malak Hermez, movement co-operation co-ordinator at the ICRC Regional Delegation in Kuwait; Dr. Musaed al-Anzi, advisor to the President of Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society; Sharifa Hilal al-Mohannadi, head of Operations Department at the Ministry of Municipality; Hamad Ali al-Muraikhi, director of Services Department in Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality; and Khaled Abdul-Rahman al-Nuaimi from Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality.
On Wednesday, the humanitarian tent was opened with two lectures by Zahra Adnan, co-ordinator of International Humanitarian Law at QRCS (Origin and History of the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent), and Ali bin Hassan al-Hammadi, secretary-general of QRCS (The Relation between Humanitarian Work and Diplomatic Work).
