Fire Station announced Wednesday that applications are now open until April 15 for the eighth edition of its Artist in Residence (AIR) Program, due to take place from Sep 15, 2023 to June 15, 2024.
The program targets artists based in Qatar, who are over 21 years old and have Qatari IDs.
Director of Fire Station Khalifa Ahmed Al Obaidly hailed the program exceptional opportunity for artists to develop their art practice. Artists will be given studio space in the Fire Station building, free access to the building's facilities and an exhibition to showcase their production, he said.
Upon completing their residency, the AIR program residents showcase their artworks in a group exhibition in the Garage Gallery at Fire Station.
Thanks to the previous editions' wide-scale success, the AIR was expanded to include a three-month residency at Cite internationale des arts in Paris, France and also at Studio 209 in New York, the US, as part of the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP).
