Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) is placed among the top 200 universities in the world in Human Biological Sciences, according to the 2022 edition of Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).
HBKU’s ranking is thanks to the work of the College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) and the research institutes (QBRI and QCRI) in the field of Human Biological Sciences. They join other prestigious institutions, including Brown University, Universite PSL, and the University of Texas in making the list.
This year’s GRAS lists more than 1,800 universities across 96 countries in 54 different subjects, spanning life, medical, natural and social sciences as well as various engineering disciplines. The rankings are calculated according to the universities’ research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards acquired.
“This is a monumental achievement for HBKU that reflects its commitment to developing world-class multidisciplinary academic programmes. It is through the university’s vision and support that CHLS has fostered a culture of transdisciplinary collaboration, allowing us to build upon our reputation as a dedicated knowledge sharing hub for the region in the fields of biomedical sciences, genomics, precision medicine, and exercise science,” said Dr Georges Nemer, interim dean and professor of CHLS.
