The 61st Session of the United Nations Commission for Social Development (CSocD61) chaired by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani concluded.

Her Excellency praised the session, pointing out that it dealt with environmental, health, social, and political issues that affected the world in general and the least developed countries in particular, noting that recent progress towards achieving the goals of sustainable development faces challenges and threats due to the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak.

She explained that the session's deliberations resulted in many important points, most notably investing in human capital, supporting institutions, providing job opportunities, supporting digital and sustainable economies, as well as investing in comprehensive social protection programs.

She stated that now is the time for all countries to take action on a national scale to create decent job opportunities for all and reduce inequality, toward the full implementation of the 2023 Sustainable Development Goals.

CSocD61 adopted a major decision on the session's priority theme of "Creating full and productive employment and decent work for all as a way of overcoming inequalities to accelerate the recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development" submitted by the CSocD61 Chair HE the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to UN Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani.
