Qatar University (QU) Health organised a blood donation campaign in co-operation with the Blood Donor Centre at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently, under the slogan: Save a Life, Donate Blood.
The campaign was successful with the participation of a large number of QU students, faculty, and staff. Over 100 students and employees participated in the campaign, including 20 who donated blood.
The aim was to raise awareness on the importance of blood donation and encourage the donors. QU Health periodically organises blood donation campaigns to support the healthcare system in Qatar and strengthen the community service role of QU.
Dr Alla El-Awaisi, director, Clinical Operations and Engagement in the Office of Vice President for Medical and Health Sciences at QU said: “ Donating blood is one of the ways to maintain your health as it stimulates the production of new blood. The blood you donate plays a critical role in people’s lives. It helps save lives in many cases and we strongly encourage our QU community members to participate in these campaigns. Those who missed the chance in participating can always go to the Blood Donor Centre at HMC.”
