The Pakistani community joined the Qatar National Sport Day (NSD) festivities. Prominent community leader Chaudhary Muhammad Ajmal hosted the event and received the chief guest Jamal al Faez al-Saeedi, advisor at the Ministry of Culture, and the guest of honour PIA country manager Mohammad Waqas Malik.
The programme commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by national anthems of Qatar and Pakistan. A number of eminent Pakistani expatriates from different walks of life attended the event. Anwar Ali Rana, founder of the social media platform #meetwithrana, was the master of ceremony.
Amongst others, Qazi Muhammad Asghar, Fahad Ismail and Nawaz Akram highlighted the significance of NSD and pledged to continue their support for all events organised at the national level. All spoke glowingly of Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2022 as a shining example of how sports brings together people from all over the world for the sheer joy of it whilst enhancing bonds of friendship. They recalled how a large contingent of Pakistani volunteers and security personnel contributed to the success of the mega event.
