Qatar Charity (QC) has launched Alaqraboon, a platform that includes a bunch of community programmes and initiatives implemented within Qatar as part of its continuous efforts to serve the local community and contribute to its development. The inaugural ceremony of the platform was attended by HE Minister of State and Chairman of Qatar Charity Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Jassim al-Thani, and HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad.
Speaking at the ceremony, HE al-Misnad expressed happiness at the launch of Qatar Charity’s Alaqroboon platform. She praised the upgraded version of the Alaqraboon app and said it is important to deliver aid to deserving people in a quick and dignified manner. She also thanked those in charge of this platform, Qatar Charity, and all humanitarian workers.
"Since the early years of its founding, Qatar Charity has been keen to contribute to the efforts of social, economic and cultural development within Qatar by
delivering assistance and implementing programs that serve the different sections of the community,” said Qatar Charity CEO Yousuf bin Ahmed al-Kuwari. He added that this runs parallel to the projects implemented outside Qatar for the benefit of crisis-affected people and poverty-stricken communities.
He indicated that QC’s activity has grown significantly in terms of quantity and quality, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, whether at the level of projects implemented by its concerned departments and its community development centres, or the social assistance provided within the Alaqraboon initiative, as well as encouraging and supporting youth and volunteer initiatives.
He noted that Qatar Charity delivered projects and social assistance worth more than QR233mn last year within Qatar, including nearly QR195mn aid for low-income families, divorced and widowed women, those in debt, and other humanitarian cases. He mentioned that the volume of this assistance during the past three years amounted to approximately QR470mn, of which QR300mn was for those in debt. The number of sponsored individuals like orphans and others increased to nearly 1,000.

Upgraded version
During the ceremony, HE Sheikh Hamad launched the upgraded version of the Alaqraboon app. Then, the features of the app were reviewed, in addition to showcasing the success stories that highlight the impact of the app, as well as the process of facilitating social assistance within Qatar. At the end of the ceremony, HE Sheikh Hamad and HE al-Misnad visited the accompanying exhibition that showcases QC's activities and events within Qatar.
