The Ministry of Commerce and Industry Tuesday organised several sports and entertainment events and activities on the occasion of the National Sport Day (QNSD), in co-operation with the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, at Lusail Shooting Complex.

HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohamed bin Hamad bin Qassim al-Thani, who led the activities, said it reflects Qatar’s leading position, both regionally and globally, as a sports destination, as evidenced by Qatar’s hosting of international sports tournaments during the past years, and its success in hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
“Dedicating a national day to sports reflects the wise leadership’s belief in the role sports hold to build a healthy society. Such a society can actively contribute to the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030 with its focus on human capability as the focus and goal of comprehensive development,” he said.
The activities organised by the ministry included sports competitions in football, volleyball, archery and physical fitness exercises, supervised by specialised coaches. The ministry also organised several competitions for children, including games such as climbing, bouncing, and hurdle races.
The ministry staff also attended a number of Qatar Open Shotgun Championship competitions, organised by the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association.
The event reflected the ministry’s keenness to enhance awareness of the importance of sport and its prominent role in the development of society, supporting the country’s goal of developing human capacity in accordance with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
