Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation (QF), Tuesday attended part of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) activities to mark the National Sport Day.
The QOC organised a number of events and activities at Oxygen Park, in Education City, with the attendance of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, President of QOC, and HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, Vice-Chairperson and CEO of QF.
In attendance also were more than 14 national federations, Team Qatar athletes, people with special needs, the QOC Family, schools and community members.
The QOC aims to highlight the concept of unity in sport by inspiring community members especially young people to take up sport and welcoming people of all backgrounds, genders, and abilities to join the National Sport Day festivities.
It focused on Qatar’s image as a sustainable global sporting hub, utilising sport as a means for positive change and living a healthy balanced life.
The QOC will also promote the upcoming edition of Judo World Championship to be staged at the Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena from May 7-14 and celebrate the year of the Asian Games by organising the Asian Games fun run.
QOC Secretary-General Jassim bin Rashid al-Buenain said: “Celebrating the National Sport Day is rooted in our desire to provide a fun sporting environment for all as the QOC’s National Sport Day activities will nurture our next generation of superstars.”
“This year, we’re joined by Team Qatar’s very best athletes who will show the way and support everyone who would participate in our sport festivities. The National Sport Day event provides a unique platform to inspire and unite our nation through sport and share the Olympic spirit in one place,” he added.
