The third edition of the Katara International Amber Exhibition concluded on Monday. The exhibition was launched at Building 12 last Friday with the participation of eight Arab and non-Arab countries in addition to local entities and different renowned international organisations.
The participants displayed their items at 50 booths, which attracted a considerable numbers of amber lovers, enthusiasts and traders who were keen to explore the various sections of the exhibition.
Khalid Abdulraheem al-Sayyid, director of events and cultural affairs at Katara, noted that this edition of the exhibition has achieved exceptional success after being halted for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in addition to the impact on the international amber market due to global factors.
"We have started working to receive applications to register for the fourth edition, which we would like to be more diversified and feature more exhibitors from around the world," he said.
Al-Sayyid appreciated the positive feedback to the third edition from exhibitors, which stressed the success of the event as a favoured destination of amber enthusiasts and traders from around the world. He noted that the event enjoyed the participation of some countries known for their amber production, such as Poland, Latvia, Turkey, Germany and some Arab nations.
The exhibition has established its reputation as the first specialised amber exhibition in Qatar and the second largest of its kind globally, after the exhibition held in Poland.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, the second volume of a book on amber written by Dr Mariam al-Nuaimi addressing the importance amber in the Arabic heritage was launched. The first volume of the book was released during the first edition of the exhibition.
