The 13th International Invention Fair in the Middle East (IIFME) continues in Kuwait, after it began on Sunday after a hiatus of more than two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The event has the participation of 40 Arab and non-Arab countries, including Qatar. It will run for four days. Deputy Executive Director of Qatar Scientific Club and head of the delegation participating in the exhibition, Eng Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, explained that the Qatari participation this year is diverse and inclusive of various academic, professional and educational bodies in the country.
The Qatari delegation is participating with seven innovations: a system for measuring blood glucose without a needle, a device for detecting cancer, a portable device for detecting moving objects and obstacles using radar, a millimeter wave camera, and the smart hat which is an assistive system for people with visual impairments.
Also being showcased is a smart system for teaching prayer, an air purifier, and an automated system for cleaning solar panels using atmospheric humidity.
Qatar Science Club has a long record of achievements, as the inventors of the club have won seven gold medals and four silver medals in the 11th edition of the fair.
The 13th IIFME this year is also witnessing, for the first time, the participation of four Saudi universities. (QNA)
China is also participating with 22 (online) inventions, and Russia's participation is represented by the Moscow Techno Ball Association, along with Tajikistan, and the participation of some international entities and organisations concerned with inventions. These include the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions and the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFEA), as well as the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) of the United Nations and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco), the Patent Office of the Co-operation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
