The Environmental Laboratory of the Department of Environmental Monitoring and Inspection at the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) received 22 students from Al Bayan Secondary School for Girls along with 30 students from Amama Bint Hamzah Primary School for Girls.
According to an official statement, the visit was to introduce them to the research mechanisms and types of environmental laboratories while making them acquainted with their role in preserving the local environment.
The students were provided with information about ways of environmental preservation and pollution prevention. The visit comes within the framework of supporting scientific research in schools and introducing students to state agencies concerned. Also, it’s part of co-operation between the MoECC and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE).
The Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department works through its laboratories to identify and certify the locations of monitoring stations for air and noise quality, and the quality of the marine environment water and to determine the types of pollutants measured while using the devices and technologies and reviewing and approving the studies. Also, they follow up the commitment of the authorities concerned.
The department is concerned with planning and providing sampling services, field and laboratory radiological, chemical, physical and biological examinations. Also, it analyses environmental pollutants and their components, the statement added.
