The League of Arab States has affirmed that the "Doha Declaration", issued by the high-level event of the 42nd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, could be an important qualitative leap in support of joint Arab social development work, especially with regard to promoting the rights of people with disabilities, and issues related to multidimensional poverty.
Arab League's Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh said in a speech before the 111th session of the Economic and Social Council at the level of senior officials, that the implementation of the "Doha Declaration" requires a broad partnership not only among the joint Arab action bodies, but also within the framework of Arab-international cooperation, pointing out that this declaration is one of the important topics raised in the context of preparing for the upcoming Arab Summit in Saudi Arabia.
Abu Ghazaleh said that the current session of the Economic and Social Council is of particular importance in terms of its topics and timing, as it is held ahead of the Arab Summit, and the upcoming Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, noting the Council's work in preparing the economic and social file for the two summits, taking into account the developments and the grave challenges that are facing many countries in the region.
She indicated that the Council's agenda includes issues of high priority for joint Arab economic and social development work, foremost among which is the preparation of the Arab strategy for communications and information; the Arab Digital Agenda 2023-2033, which is of utmost importance in all economic and social fields, in light of the ongoing technology developments.
Qatar was represented at the 111th session of the Economic and Social Council, at the level of senior officials, by a delegation from the Ministry of Finance, headed by Hamad Madi Al Hajri, Director of International Co-operation Department at the Ministry.
