Qatar Endurance Racing Club rounded off the preparations for His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's Sword Endurance Race, due to be held at the Marathon village in Sealine, on Saturday.
Featuring 55 male and female jockeys from Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE astride well-trained horses, the race stretches over 119km, split into four stages - the first for 39km, the second for 35km, the third for 25km, and the fourth for 20km.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), President of the Qatar Endurance Committee Amer Al Hamidi highlighted the preparedness of all competitors for the prestigious race, including 15 riders from outside the country.
The Qatar Endurance Racing Club aims to promote endurance racing activities approved by equestrian sports and raise their technical level in coordination with the concerned authorities, and provide the means, methods and services necessary to conduct all activities, competitions, events related to endurance racing in the State of Qatar, Al Hamidi said.
This encourages Qatari youth to practice endurance activities which have physical, health and social benefits for the Qatari society in general, he added.
