Qatar Golf Association (QGA) will host the third leg of the 2023 Asian Tour and the second leg of the Asian Tour’s International Series at the Doha Golf Club (DGC) from February 16 to 19.
The tournament will feature 132 world-class professional golfers competing for prizes worth two and half million dollars, the tournament will be held for the first time in Qatar and is part of the ground-breaking Asian Tour International Series, which was launched last year.
Hassan Nasser al-Naimi, President of the Qatar Golf Association and Chairman of the Tournament Organising Committee, thanked HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and all officials of the committee for their support.
Al-Naimi said the Asian Tour is one of the prestigious events and will attract some of the top professionals of the game. “This tournament is one of the biggest golf events all over the world and it will help promote Qatar as a tourist destination and will get a lot of media coverage. He called upon golf lovers to “come and enjoy the atmosphere of the tournament”, during the Asian Tour’s International Series.
Cho Min Tant, CEO of the Asian Tour, was delighted that Qatar was hosting the biggest leg of the Asian Tour’s International Series.
“We are very happy to hold one of the Asian Tour rounds in Qatar for the first time, as Qatar is witnessing in these years a great and excellent boom in organising major international sporting events, and the best example is its impressive success in organising FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” Cho Min Tant said.
“This tournament will be attended by professional players, including some of the world’s top ranked players, and I am looking forward to this tournament being held annually in Qatar, and I invite all athletes to attend and enjoy the atmosphere,” he said.
