Several government girls' schools have started holding various activities for the students and staff as part of the preparations for National Sport Day.
Local Arabic daily 'Arrayah' reports that these activities also engage the parents of students to encourage all to adopt a healthier lifestyle. Speaking to the daily, some school directors said the exercises and activities include aerobics, field visits to some sports clubs, mini marathons, and athletics tournaments both within and outside schools, in addition to football, volleyball, handball and walking, among others. They stressed that it is an excellent opportunity to enhance the love of sports among the students, staff and their families. Further, the featured programmes will enhance the spirit of co-operation and sharing among the students, besides highlighting the importance of being active community members. They also expect this would eventually reflect positively on the academic and social performance of the students.
