Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched an urgent relief for those affected by the earthquake that struck Turkey and northern Syria. QRCS also activated its Doha-based operations room as an emergency response to this disaster.
In a press release, QRCS said it was monitoring the situation after the powerful earthquake that struck Turkey and northern Syria and other countries early Monday.
It allocated 4,800 food parcels from its representation mission's stock in Turkey to be urgently distributed to the affected families in northern Syria, the QRCS added.
Plans are considered to launch a large-scale emergency relief campaign, with a special focus on the most pressing needs at this point, especially food and nonfood items (NFIs), such as tents, blankets, tarpaulins, and hygiene kits, it said.
CEO of QRCS Faisal Mohamed Al Emadi stated, "We are closely monitoring the aftermaths of the earthquake, and we are in communication with other humanitarian providers on updates".
