The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, represented by the Department of e-learning and Digital Solutions, launched the 'Digital Innovation Clubs' platform on the 'Qatar Education' system in all public schools, in order to spread the culture of e-learning in the educational process.
The Digital Innovation Clubs, which are concerned with extracurricular activities for students, and are supervised by the schools e-projects coordinator, aim to encourage students in self-learning and cooperative learning through various projects and activities, as well as support students learning and hone their digital skills outside the classroom to ensure they adapt to e-learning effectively and gain 21st century skills.
The Department of e-learning and Digital Solutions stated that the first of these clubs is the 'Minecraft' Club, one of Microsoft's favourite applications for young people, which unleashes their creativity and design and enables them to express what is going on in their imaginations through a three-dimensional world. They can participate in these worlds individually or collectively and cooperate in creating different projects about what they are learning in their school subjects, so that information is acquired and documented in a fun and interesting way and that learning can be achieved through playing.
It pointed out that the school's e-project coordinators have uploaded the training material on the application to the club class in the 'Qatar Education' system in the form of separate lessons, taking into account the division of concepts into mini-units, in application of the concept of micro-education, while many schools have raised awareness of the importance of joining the club by videos and posters and various means.
The Department of e-learning and Digital Solutions expects that the Minecraft application will enrich the educational process and become a useful means for integrating technology into education, allowing teachers and students to innovate and create, in addition to increasing academic achievement and providing students with new digital skills that help them keep pace with the continuous digital development.
