D Memzer of Dubai Arabian Horse Stud, and Maisa Al Nasser, owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani, Saturday emerged as the champion stallion and mare, respectively, at the Arabian Peninsula Horse Show Championship held as part of the third Katara International Arabian Horse Festival (KIAHF 2023).

  • Senior Stallions Championship (Class SSC)

Gold: D Memzer (Dubai Arabian Horse Stud); Silver: GJ Faheem (owned by Glenn Jacobs); and Bronze: Asayel Rashiq (Al Reeh Stud)

  • Senior Mares Championship (Class SMC)

Gold: Maisa Al Nasser (owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani); Silver: Zawaher Fila (Doha Stud); and Bronze: D Omnia (Dubai Arabian Horse Stud)

  • Junior Colts Championship (Class JCC)

Gold: Ghazal Al Waab of Al Waab Farm; Silver: D K'hailan (Dubai Arabian Horse Stud); and Bronze: Yazeed Al Rayyan (Al Rayyan Farm)

  • Junior Fillies Championship (Class JFC)

Gold: Alaalia Al Waab (Doha Stud); Silver: Kamar EGA (owned by Althamer Stud); and Bronze: Leena Al Nasser (Al Nasser Stud)

  • Yearling Colts Championship (Class YCC)

Gold: Maleeh Al Nasser (owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani); Silver: Jalmoud Al Hilaliya (owned by Barrak Yaqoud al-Hajri); and Bronze: Rayyan Al Hazm (Al Hazm Stud)

  • Yearling Fillies Championship (Class YFC)

Gold: Zaina Al Wajba (Al Wajba Stud); Silver: Lateen Al Danat (Al Danat Stud); and Bronze: Namaria El Aliya (Al Alya Stud).

It was the final day of the championship and it was held at the Katara Beach arena.
GJ Faheem, owned by Glenn Jacobs, and Al Reeh Stud’s Asayel Rashiq were the silver and bronze winners, respectively, of KIAHF 2023 Senior Stallions Championship (Class SSC).
Doha Stud’s Zawaher Fila claimed silver in the Senior Mares Championship (Class SMC), while D Omnia of Dubai Arabian Horse Stud took bronze. Qatar horses topped five of the six Arabian Peninsula categories with Ghazal Al Waab of Al Waab Farm winning the Junior Colts Championship (Class JCC); Alaalia Al Waab of Doha Stud being best in the Junior Fillies Championship (Class JFC); Maleeh Al Nasser, owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani, winning the Yearling Colts Championship (Class YCC); and Zaina Al Wajba of Al Wajba Stud claiming top honours in the Yearling Fillies Championship (Class YFC).
Abdulaziz al-Marzouqi, executive director of Dubai Arabian Horse Stud, expressed delight at D Memzer winning the stallions’ championship, describing the competition as strong in the presence of the best breeds of horses in the world. Dubai Arabian Horse Stud participated with seven heads in the Arabian Peninsula Show of KIAHF 2023. They won first place in the qualifiers, and all of them qualified for the final competitions with the horses achieving a number of medals.
Al-Marzouqi expected that the 32nd Qatar Championship for Purebred Arabian Horse Beauty, the Title Show to be held at KIAHF 2023 from February 8-11, to be equally strong and exciting.
Abdul Rahman al-Nassar, director of Doha Stud, expressed happiness that their horses won two golds and other medals in the championship. He also admired the high level of organisation of the festival.
The champion horses wowed all with their strength, elegance, grace and overall beauty. The contenders were called out by their owners and breeders to show elegance and poise as the horses lined up in the spectacular arena for the international jury to judge them.
From the beautiful eyes, to neck, their legs and tails, the mares and fillies were simply beautiful and it took some time before the jury could arrive at decisions in the various categories.
The stallions and colts displayed impressive body structure, muscular strength and movement.
Earlier, the competition entered higher levels with the Jr Fillies Championship Class, as brilliant fillies vied for the top honours. In the end, Alaalia Al Waab of Doha Stud won gold. The silver was won by Kamar EGA of Althamer Stud while the bronze went to Leena Al Nasser of Al Nasser Stud.
Maleeh Al Nasser, of Al Nasser Stud and owned by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser al-Thani, won gold in the Yearling Colts Championship (Class YCC). The silver in the YCC class was claimed by Jalmoud Al Hilaliya of Barrak Yaqoud al-Hajri, while Rayyan Al Hazm of Al Hazm Stud won the bronze.
Zaina Al Wajba of Al Wajba Stud was adjudged as the gold winner in the Yearling Fillies Championship (Class YFC). Zaina Al Wajba had earlier stood first in the Yearling Fillies Section A (Class 1A) qualifying on the opening day of KIAHF 2023. Lateen Al Danat of Al Danat Stud emerged as the silver winner in the Yearling Fillies Championship (Class YFC), while Namaria El Aliya of Al Alya Stud won bronze.
