Khalifa bin Sheail al-Kuwari’s Hidalgo Du Croate won the Ain Sinan Cup, the day’s feature race at the Al Uqda Complex on Thursday. Jockey Jerome Moutard gave a good ride to the six-year-old Julian Smart-trained gelding as he won the 2000m contest for four-year-old+ Purebred Arabians by a length.
In the penultimate race of the day, Yousuf Bakhit al-Kuwari’s High And Wide enhanced his tally with a second straight win as he topped the 1100m Handicap (65-85) for three-year-old+ Thoroughbreds by a length for the trainer-jockey combination of Ibrahim Saeed al-Malki and Tomas Lukasek.
Al Jeryan Stud’s AJS Duhail won his second victory in a row yesterday. Trainer MHK al-Attiyah and jockey Szczepan Mazur teamed up to good effect once again as the four-year-old gelding took the 1300m Handicap (0-70) for four-year+ Local Thoroughbred by a length.
In a thrilling start to the day’s racing, Nasser Owaida Salem al-Hajri’s Rain Prancer emerged victorious in a battle for the line. Under jockey Faleh Bughanaim, the Owaida Salem al-Hajri-trained six year-old gelding got the better of Arsaad by a head in the 1300m Handicap (0-65) for four-year-old+ Thoroughbreds.
There was another exciting finish in the 2000m Maiden for four to six-year-old Purebred Arabians, as only a short head decided the winner and it was Abdullah bin Ali bin Khalifa al-Attiya’s Igor Du Pouy, trained by Mohamed Nasser al-Naimi, who narrowly came out on top for jockey Soufiane Saadi ahead of Fetown.
Al Rufaa Racing’s Flaming Lord returned back to his game with a win in the 2000m Novice for four-year+ Thoroughbreds. Jockey Marco Casamento gave the Jassim Ghazali-trained four-year-old gelding a good ride to finish a length and a quarter in front of his nearest rival.
Khalifa Hassan al-Jehani’s Kai Du Soleil opened his account, as the four-year-old colt won the 1300m Handicap (0-75) for four-year+ Purebred Arabians in comprehensive fashion, going two and a half lengths clear under jockey Saleh Faraj al-Otaibi for trainer Mohamed Ghazali.
